Wegmans shoppers can support United Way at the cash register
March 25, 2026:
United Way of the Southern Tier and Wegmans have teamed up again to make it easy to help neighbors in need in Chemung and Steuben counties.
Starting today, Wegmans shoppers in Corning, Elmira, and Hornell can donate to United Way at any register to support programs for local children, senior citizens, and people facing financial crisis or natural disaster.
Shoppers can choose to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar, or donate $2, $3, $5, or more.
“Right now, more families in our region are facing tough choices, and this campaign makes it easy to be part of the solution,” said United Way of the Southern Tier CEO Maleaha Smith. “A quick donation at checkout helps connect people to the essentials they need, from food and care to stability and opportunity.”
All donations from the Wegmans check-out fundraiser will be directed to the nearly 70 local programs such as after-school programming, meals and transportation for seniors, and emergency services for individuals and families.
The fundraiser ends on May 5.
