Toy and game drive for local families

July 14, 2020:

United Way of the Southern Tier is proud to join with Pro Action of Steuben and Yates Inc.’s Family Resource Centers, the Pregnancy Resource Center of the Valleys, and the Southeast Steuben County Library to collect new and gently used toys, games, children's books and movies, to distribute to families in rural areas in our community.

Families are in need of safe, fun, healthy activities this summer as some traditional programs are not operating or families have had to opt out for safety reasons.

The following items are being sought for various age groups, from infants to teens:
• Books
• Games and toys (indoor & outdoor)
• DVDs
• Sports equipment (jump ropes, balls, cones, cornhole, badminton sets, hula hoops, etc.)
• Video games / game systems

To donate:
• Anyone with items to donate can text 607-288-3772 and someone from the Pregnancy Resource Center of the Valleys will arrange pick-up of their donations.
• Donations also may be dropped off between 9 a.m-5 p.m. weekdays at 8 Denison Parkway in Corning at the Southeast Steuben County Library Annex. (Parking lot entrance.)
• Friday, July 31, is the final day on which donations will be taken.

Of note:
• Volunteers and/or staff will assess condition/safety/age range of donations, and sanitize all items to be distributed.
• Families will have to register to attend the distribution event in their area; distribution plans have not yet been announced.
