Tour de Keuka bike ride raises over $125,000 for local programs

August 2, 2025:

United Way of the Southern Tier’s annual Tour de Keuka charity bike ride on Saturday raised more than $125,000 for programs supporting children, senior citizens, and people in need in Chemung and Steuben counties.

More than 270 cyclists from 17 states took part in Tour de Keuka, which is presented by Kennedy Valve. Additionally, 75 community members volunteered for the day-long fundraiser.

Participants started and finished at the Hammondsport Fire Station and rode distances of 45, 60, or 100 miles during the event. Each participant raised at least $150 for United Way, with many raising more than $500.

This year’s Tour de Keuka included a special tribute to co-founder Jenny Rhoads, who passed away in 2017. The event’s longest route, the 100-mile challenge, now bears her name in honor of her enduring spirit and contribution to the region.

“Tour de Keuka is an incredible display of community in motion,” said United Way President and CEO Maleaha Smith. “Every dollar raised helps us invest in brighter futures for local kids, greater independence for seniors, and critical support for those struggling to get by.

“We’re deeply grateful to everyone who rode, volunteered, and donated. Each mile ridden and each dollar raised is a promise to our neighbors. We see them, we care, and we’re building a stronger future together,” Smith said.

Tour de Keuka will roll on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
