Remembering United Way advocate Richard Rahill

CORNING — It is with great sadness that United Way of the Southern Tier shares news of the passing of Richard “Dick” Rahill.

Mr. Rahill was a tireless advocate for United Way, playing a vital role in the shaping of policy at the local, state and national levels of the United Way movement. He served on the boards of United Way of America (now United Way Worldwide), United Way of New York State, and United of Steuben County (now United Way of the Southern Tier). His contributions to improving community conditions and building an honorable institution will endure.

“Dick’s passion for building strong communities through his advocacy and service to United Way leaves a lasting legacy. He was tough and true to the values that guided his life and the mission of United Way,” said Steve Hughes, President and CEO of United Way of the Southern Tier.  “We will forever honor him and all he has done for our community.”

Visitation for Mr. Rahill will be held 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, at Fagan Funeral Home in Bath. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, at St. Mary’s Church in Bath. 

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to St. John Vianney Parish, the American Cancer Society or United Way of the Southern Tier, www.uwst.org/donate.
