United Way of the Southern Tier seeks notes of encouragement for students

May 5, 2023:

A word of encouragement as the school year winds down can make a world of difference to a youngster in our community.

United Way of the Southern Tier is seeking notes of encouragement for children to let them know that we're all pulling for them and that they can finish strong.

A simple message such as "You can do it!" and "You've got this!" is all it takes to spark confidence.

The notes will be distributed to schools in Chemung and Steuben counties.

Here's what you'll need (or download this instruction sheet):

Supplies:
You'll need: card stock, construction paper or a similar heavy paper, markers, crayons, or colored pencils.

Instructions:
1.
Fold your card stock or construction paper to make a card.
2. Draw a simple picture on the card cover (emojis, flowers, balloons, animals, etc.).
3. Inside the card, hand-write a simple note of encouragement.
* Please do not write in cursive.
* Please do not sign the note.
* Notes will go to school-age children (kindergarten to 12th grade).

Sample messages:
Finish Strong!
You Can Do It!
You've Got This!
Believe In Yourself!
Give It Your All!
