Aug. 19, 2020:

United Ways throughout New York State have partnered with the Boilermaker Road Race on the Empire State Race-Off Challenge!

The challenge pits regions of the state against each other in a friendly competition to see who has the most dedicated runners and walkers. Best of all, a portion of the proceeds of the challenge will benefit United Ways throughout New York State, including United Way of the Southern Tier.

How does it work?

When you sign up, you can choose to have your portion of proceeds benefit United Way of the Southern Tier. You also have the option to make an additional donation to United Way of the Southern Tier as part of your registration.

This friendly competition — that takes place between Sept. 16 and Oct. 31 — will help keep you moving throughout the most beautiful season our state has to offer, as well as the best running conditions!

Each registrant will choose one of the 10 New York State regions to run with and track their miles. The region with the most cumulative miles takes the title of “Best Running Community in NYS” all while helping local New York State United Ways!

Registrants will get a cool lightweight, high-performance, long-sleeve shirt, with the region of their choice represented on the back, plus a finisher's medal!

This challenge is a competitor’s dream! As an individual, you will be able to track your personal mileage. You’ll also be a part of a region-wide effort, and can also take on the challenge as part of your own team! Get your friends, co-workers, or family together and RUN UNITED!

Want to participate but running isn’t for you? That’s OK, you can track your mileage by running, jogging, hiking, or walking!

How do I sign up!?
