If you need information on local agencies in the Southern Tier of New York that can help during COVID-19, please call 2-1-1 or 1-800-346-2211 or text your Zip Code to 898211. You can also visit www.211helpline.org to get information.

A Facebook post that was widely circulating recently about United Way is not clear. The phone number being shared in the Facebook post sent callers to a direct line for Indiana 211. The special assistance referred to in the post is not available to anyone outside of Indianapolis.

United Way Worldwide COVID-19 Fund is a national effort being advanced by our parent organization, United Way Worldwide. This effort will provide direct assistance to areas of the country that have the greatest need related to the pandemic.

While United Way of the Southern Tier is a member entity of United Way Worldwide, it is not directly connected to the national response.

If you want to help locally, reach out to your local United Way.

Donations made to www.uwst.org/donate will stay local to support programs in Chemung and Steuben counties on the frontlines of COVID-19.

Donations should be identified as UWST-COVID19 and will be earmarked as assistance to vulnerable populations through United Way’s Southern Tier Basic Needs and Senior Support Networks.

All UWST-COVID19 funds received by United Way of the Southern Tier will be distributed.
