United Way of the Southern Tier says Every Drop Counts

October 26, 2026:

United Way of the Southern Tier believes every donation and every hour volunteered can create lasting change in our community.

“At United Way of the Southern Tier, we often say that Every Drop Counts. And we mean it,” said United Way of the Southern Tier CEO Maleaha Smith. “It’s a simple concept: No one person can do everything, but each of us can do something. Whether it's a financial gift, an hour of our time, or simply showing up for a neighbor, those individual acts add up. When we come together, we can make a meaningful difference for children, families, and older adults right here in Chemung and Steuben counties.”

Last year, thousands of local residents and businesses came together to provide more than $2.18 million to support nonprofit programs in Chemung and Steuben counties.

Gifts to the 2026 Community Campaign are now being accepted and can be made securely online using a credit card, or by mail:

“Our collective generosity provides a strong start for children, supports older adults in aging safely and independently, and gives families a helping hand when they need it most,” Smith said.
