United Way breaks fundraising record again

2011 Campaign at $4.6 million, with potential for more

With the support of thousands of individual and corporate donors, and foundations, United Way of the Southern Tier has again set an all-time high fundraising record. The 2011 campaign results mark back-to-back campaign records for United Way.

As of February 1, the 2011 Community Campaign sits at $4,610,513 – a $76,870 increase over the previous record set in 2010. This total includes completed campaigns, and it is expected the final number will push the total even higher.

“The results from the community are remarkable and we owe it all to our loyal donors and hard-working volunteers,” said Steve Hughes, Vice President of Resource Development. “There is more good news to come: Support from the community trickles into our office through the end of the month, and we expect to add another $15,000 on top of this amount.”

Individuals or organizations wishing to add to the success of the 2011 United Way Community Campaign still have time and can send contributions to the Corning office.

Funds raised in the record-setting 2011 campaign will be invested in health and human services programs and initiatives across Chemung and Steuben counties in the 2012-13 fiscal year.
